Brookline Residents Jackie Jenkins-Scott, Josefina Bonilla to be Honored at Get Konnected!

Brookline -- Jackie Jenkins-Scott, president of Wheelock College, known for her transformative and innovative leadership abilities, and Josefina Bonilla, publisher of Color Magazine Boston’s premier inclusive monthly, will be honored on Tuesday, March 27, at the fourth anniversary celebration of Get Konnected! as women who rock. Jenkins-Scott and Bonilla, both Brookline residents, will join five other local women who have all been identified as some of the most influential, socially conscious and committed in the Boston area.

The event will be held at the Harvard Club of Boston, Downtown Club, One Federal St., Boston.

Jenkins-Scott has been an advocate in fulfilling the unique and compelling mission of the college. Under her leadership, Wheelock has strengthened its core undergraduate and graduate academic programs, enhanced the undergraduate experience, and expanded the college’s reach internationally. She has emphasized cross disciplinary collaboration and community partnerships.

From 1983 until 2004, Jenkins-Scott served as the president and chief executive officer of the Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, one of Boston’s largest community-based health and human service agency serving the city’s most vulnerable populations. Prior to that, she held several positions with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts departments of Public and Mental Health. As a community leader, public health advocate, and innovative administrator, she has been a nationally known figure for nearly 30 years.

Bonilla is the managing director of Color Media Group LLC and publisher of its flagship publication, Color Magazine. She is responsible for creating business partnerships and developing opportunities to promote diverse professionals in New England and New York City.

Prior to launching Color Media Group, LLC, Bonilla was the editor-in-chief of EntreAmigos Magazine, a one-of-a-kind publication highlighting professional Hispanics in and around Boston that she co-founded with Hispanic News Press.

Bonilla has also worked on the other side of the media spectrum as a public relations director for Wentworth Institute of Technology.

She is a board member of The Partnership Inc., Raising a Reader as well as the Color Magazine Foundation, which she founded. She is sits on the corporate advisory board of the Association of Latino Professionals in Accounting and Finance and is a member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals.

Get Konnected! is Boston’s first and only urban bi-monthly professional and business networking event.

The event will also feature a book signing by Bill Brett, Kerry Brett and Carol Beggy, the team behind BOSTON Inspirational Women. Three of the seven women are featured in the book, which is available for purchase now. For more information about Get Konnected, go to www.getkonnected.com.
